Level Sets of Random Fields and Applications: Specular Points and Wave Crests
نویسندگان
چکیده
We apply Rice’s multidimensional formulas, in amathematically rigorousway, to several problems which appear in random sea modeling. As a first example, the probability density function of the velocity of the specular points is obtained in one or two dimensions as well as the expectation of the number of specular points in two dimensions. We also consider, based on a multidimensional Rice formula, a curvilinear integral with respect to the level curve. It follows that its expected value allows defining the Palm distribution of the angle of the normal of the curve that defines the waves crest. Finally, we give a new proof of a general multidimensional Rice formula, valid for all levels, for a stationary and smooth enough random fields X : R → R d > j .

Propagation Models and Fitting Them for the Boolean Random Sets
In order to study the relationship between random Boolean sets and some explanatory variables, this paper introduces a Propagation model. This model can be applied when corresponding Poisson process of the Boolean model is related to explanatory variables and the random grains are not affected by these variables. An approximation for the likelihood is used to find pseudo-maximum likelihood esti...
متن کاملFractal Measures of the Sets Associated to Gaussian Random Fields
This paper summarizes recent results about the Hausdorff measure of the image, graph and level sets of Gaussian random fields, the packing dimension and packing measure of the image of fractional Brownian motion, the local times and multiple points of Gaussian random fields. Some open problems are also pointed out.
متن کاملRay propagation in nonuniform random lattices.
The problem of optical ray propagation in a nonuniform random half-plane lattice is considered. An external source radiates a planar monochromatic wave impinging at an angle theta on a half-plane random grid where each cell can be independently occupied with probability q(j)=1-p(j),j being the row index. The wave undergoes specular reflections on the occupied cells, and the probability of penet...
متن کاملAN APPROACH TOWARDS WAVE CLIMATE STUDY IN THE PERSIAN GULF AND THE GULF OF OMAN: SIMULATION AND VALIDATION
This article describes the 11-year wave simulation (1992-2002) in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman using the input data derived from European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). The ECMWF 10 meter wind field and spectral wave boundary condition at 18 ْN degree are input into one of the latest versions of numerical wave models (3rd generation) after a few local modifications. ...
متن کاملA New Iterative Algorithm for Multivalued Nonexpansive Mappping and Equlibruim Problems with Applications
In this paper, we introduce two iterative schemes by a modified Krasnoselskii-Mann algorithm for finding a common element of the set of solutions of equilibrium problems and the set of fixed points of multivalued nonexpansive mappings in Hilbert space. We prove that the sequence generated by the proposed method converges strongly to a common element of the set of solutions of equilibruim proble...
